At the time of writing, Connoisseur Club Casino is temporarily closed with no clear sense of when it is going to re-open. It is undergoing a refurbishment to ensure it is in-line with the other Grosvenor Casinos around the country, although the fact that it appears to have closed its doors in 2011 suggests that a good amount of time is being taken to get things right. There is even some debate over the venue’s name, with some referring to it as The Connoisseur Club and some saying it’s now known as Connoisseur Casino, a Grosvenor Casino. Regardless, you can’t go there right now even if you really want to.
What It Has Offered in the Past
When the casino was open, it was one in which you could engage with most of the standard casino options. There weren’t as many slot machines as you might imagine, but given the manner in which they are a real money maker for casinos, it wouldn’t be a shock if there were a lot more on offer when it re-opens. There were a few electronic roulette tables, which isn’t a surprise given the popularity of that as a game. The fact that it wasn’t London’s biggest casino means that some of the offerings will have been a little bit disappointing for some, but still offered plenty of chances for punters to take on the House.
Small But Elegant
With a name like ‘Connoisseur Club’, it is hardly surprising that this member of the Grosvenor Casino family aimed for elegance as its watchword. Located next to the Royal Garden Hotel on Kensington High Street but not actually part of the hotel itself, the venue had a small restaurant with only a few tables, so booking was always recommended for those hoping to get a bite to eat there. The good news for those of you that tend to get a little bit peckish is that there was also a snack bar and it’s difficult to imagine a world in which that doesn’t remain the case when the casino does eventually open back up to the public.
When Will it Re-Open?
The obvious question that many people will ask when it comes to the Connoisseur Casino is when it will re-open. That is entirely fair question, but not necessarily one that it is easy to answer. We know that the casino is only closed ‘temporarily’, but there isn’t much more information than that. It is a cute little casino to play in, so punters will rightly be hoping that its doors are opened again sooner rather than later, but the exact nature of when we can expect that to happen simply isn’t out there at the moment. Such is the level of secrecy surrounding it, we can’t even say for certain what it is that they’re doing to it whilst it’s closed.
