Bongo’s Bingo has announced its biggest Halloween run yet, with a record 47 venues across the country hosting a Halloween Special edition of the show throughout October, with London getting several dates of its own across three different venues.
The Halloween Special keeps the format that has made Bongo’s Bingo a fixture of stag do’s, hen do’s and student nights out up and down the country, mixing an actual game of bingo with rave intervals, dance-offs and prizes that have very little to do with bingo in the traditional sense. That means the likes of oversized inflatable unicorns or a mobility scooter, all wrapped in a fancy dress-friendly, spooky theme for the occasion.
Where to Catch It in London
The Electric Ballroom in Camden gets the first crack at playing host to the madness, with a show on the 11th of October. Then, the Steel Yard in London Bridge is hosting the Halloween Special across three separate dates, with the first coming on the 23rd, then the 24th and finally the 30th of October, which is the closest to Halloween itself. The Grand, in Clapham Junction, rounds things off with a double-header on the 24th of October, running an afternoon session as well as an evening one for anyone who fancies making a full day of it.
As with most Bongo’s Bingo nights, don’t expect a quiet one. The show has built its reputation on being loud, chaotic and entirely unserious about the bingo part. Meanwhile, the fancy dress, wild prizes and dance-offs are all part of what has kept it popular well beyond its Liverpool roots.
A Bigger Tour Than Ever
Forty-seven venues is, by Bongo’s Bingo’s own reckoning, more than it has ever put on for a single Halloween run, taking in cities from Liverpool and Manchester to the likes of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Brighton. Add in the London stops and it’s a veritable tour de force for the team behind one of the most imitated bingo nights around.
Tickets for the London dates are already on sale through the Bongo’s Bingo website. Given how quickly its regular shows tend to sell out, anyone tempted to get along and take part in the fun would be well advised not to leave it too long.
